Please note that the Trans National Park is only signposted in one direction: from Steyr to Johnsbach. A very scenic and physically demanding tour, as it is one of the longest stages of the Trans National Park. The views of the Tote Gebirge and the large and small Pyhrgas make up for the effort. Cyclists and e-bikes can "refuel" during a relaxing break at one of the rustic National Park mountain huts on the Hengstpass. In the centre of Windischgarsten, turn left past the market fountain and then right towards Hotel Dilly. Shortly before the hotel, at the e-bike hire station, turn left and then right into Rosenauerweg. Through the Edlbach district of Dörfl you reach the golf course and bathing lake in Edlbach. Turn sharp left here and cycle past the Hotel Huttersberg and up to Mitterweng. At the crossroads below the Singerskogel snack station, the route now leads downhill to the left on the Garstnertaler Höhenrunde (MTB1) and then uphill on a forest road towards Schwarzkogel. Pass the Dambach Ursprung and head into Innerrosenau, where you can visit the biathlon and cross-country skiing arena. The route then takes a sharp right up the mountain towards Egglalm. This is a SCHIEBESTRECKE!!! Please always close the pasture gates! For refreshments in between, we recommend a stop at one of the mountain huts on the Hengstpass (Egglalm, Karlhütte and Puglalm). After the Egglalm, the trail leads to the Hengstpass country road (turn right). Passing the Sagwirt and the village of Unterlaussa, this stage finally ends in St. Gallen.
