Due to the differences in altitude, the hiking trail is somewhat strenuous. However, the highlight of the trail makes up for the effort - the top of the Braunberg with the rustic Braunberghütte. The mountain is one of the most beautiful hiking mountains and excursion destinations in the Freistadt region. In fine weather, it offers a magnificent view of the Alps. The Braunberg is also a hiking trail junction for two long-distance hiking trails: The Nordwaldkammweg from the Dreisessselberg in Bavaria to the Nebelstein in Lower Austria and the 170er Weitwanderweg from Mauthausen to Karlstift cross paths at the ÖAV hut directly on the Braunberg.
