The young British mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston, praised by the music magazine Gramophone as "one of the most exciting voices of a new generation of British singers", presents her joint programme Battle Cry: She Speaks, which won BBC Music Magazine's Vocal Award in 2023, together with theorbist Toby Carr at her Brucknerhaus debut. The programme combines works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, from Claudio Monteverdi to Barbara Strozzi and Henry Purcell, with the title work commissioned from contemporary composer Owain Park.
