Rottenegg, one of the hamlets of St Gotthard (Mühlviertel/Upper Austria), is situated at the river mouth of Eschelbach and Kleine Rodl. The surroundings of Rottenegg lend itself to outstanding hiking. You may find various romantically secluded places along the idyllic river dales. Those who climb one of the area´s hills will be rewarded by magnificent panoramic vistas.
Moreover, there are various worthwhile historic sights, such as Rottenegg Castle in Ruins and Eschelberg Castle. The Rottenegg Cultural Summer Program offers contemporary art, including satirical cabarets, concerts and theater performances.

Saint Gotthard Parish Church: Late Baroque hilltop church with a magnificent courtyard This place is a very popular wedding chapel and offers spectacular views on the foothills of the Alps.
Rottenegg Castle in Ruins (not open to the public).
Eschelberg Castle (not open to the public).
A part of "Krumauer Straße": A steep, 400m long part of the medieval trade route "Via Regia", covered with round shaped cobble stones.
