Only you can decide which is best - every skier has his own favourite lodge. After all, tastes differ as much as the lodges themselves. The rustic and cosy kind sit on the snow-covered slopes and offer a relaxed and enjoyable break from skiing. Others are situated on busy slopes and tempt you in with the promise of high-spirited fun.
Many of the ski lodges in Upper Austria place great importance on regional cuisine and source their primary ingredients from their immediate surroundings. Classics of Upper Austrian cuisine fortify skiers on their culinary breaks: from "Hascheeknödel" - spicy stuffed dumplings, usually accompanied by sauerkraut - through to the chopped, sweet pancake temptation that goes by the name of "Kaiserschmarrn".
And thanks to the cosy and congenial atmosphere (referred to locally as "Gemütlichkeit") of a typical lodge, many skiers end up staying on the terraces for much longer than they'd planned. It's easy to see why on sunny days with these views ...
