Race the river, pause for a moment at a vantage point. Savour dumpling and strudel variations here, make a stopover for history and culture there. Pleasure cycling in Upper Austria has many facets. If you want, you can simply combine them into a new tour every day. Whether it's a long-distance route, round trip or themed trail - a well-developed and signposted network of cycle paths with an impressive 2,000 kilometres in length helps with planning and provides inspiration. Most of the routes are leisurely and rather flat along rivers or lakes and are mainly on paved surfaces. Coupled with cycle-friendly infrastructure from A for charging to Z for rooms, everything is possible, from holiday fun that can be booked in advance to individual adventures.

 Salzkammergut cycle path

Mountains and lakes, monasteries and salt works, Mozart and the emperor. They all come together on this circular route in two loops to form a great whole: summer retreat, interpreted in a modern way.  Mühlviertel cycle path

A world of hills that is unrivalled: Mystical and modern, challenging and rewarding at the same time. The route leads through deep forests, moors, hop fields and alpine pastures from the Danube to the Czech border region. Time and again, the Mühlviertel highlands surprise you with views as far as the Alps.

 Ennstal cycle path

On the trail of the Black Counts through the Valley of the Hammers. The Enns once transported iron from the Erzberg. Today, it shows sports enthusiasts the way through wildly romantic mountain scenery and the green forests of the Kalkalpen National Park, always accompanied by the history of woodcutters, blacksmiths and hammer makers.

 Steyr Valley cycle path

Marvel at the mountain panorama of the Limestone Alps and the imposing gorges of the Steyr and its tributaries, glide gently along the route of the former Steyrtal railway to the historic town of Eisenstadt. And rest, splash and play in between. A real family tip thanks to the shuttle bus and train connections.

 Inn cycle path

Rich in contrast, colourful and cross-border - the Inn river has many facets. And with it the accompanying Inn Cycle Path, which is mostly flat and leads through lush green riverside forests and baroque towns such as Schärding. Natural jewel meets cultural treasure - especially at the end of the tour, the three-river city of Passau.

 Traun cycle path

More than just connecting! Only a day's journey lies between Gmunden on Lake Traunsee and the mouth of the River Traun on the Danube. Or a whole world. Here the Salzkammergut with its sophisticated district capital, there the vibrant central region and the Traun floodplains. The cycle path links the two poles.

 Traunviertel Tour

7-day gourmet tour through all the river valleys that are famous in the Traunviertel region, as well as the Reichraminger Hintergebirge mountains. Nature and culture go hand in hand on this round trip with Steyr as the hub. The route visits highlights such as the Traunsee town of Gmunden and the Schiederweiher pond.

 Roman round

Family-friendly journey back in time to the Roman Empire. The combination of the Roman Cycle Route and the Danube Cycle Route measures 364 kilometres. Information boards along the route present the history, while museums and excavations invite you to make educational stops along the way. Above all, however, it is the present, consisting of city, countryside and river, that appeals.
