Explore the most important places at lake Attersee of these outstanding artists, Gustav Klimt and Gustav Mahler, including two nights in one of our partner hotels.

Gustav Mahler enjoyed the beautiful natur in this area with it´s breathtaking surroundings during his summer holidays. The landscape worked wonders for Mahler’s creativity, inspiring half a dozen songs and most of two enormous symphonies over the course of four summers.

Also the world-renowned artist Gustav Klimt regularly spent the summer months between 1900 and 1916 in this region, preferably holidaying on the turquoise lake with his life partner Emilie Flöge (1874-1952) owing to the family ties between the Klimts, Flöges and Paulicks. Gustav Klimt would ultimately be inspired by the Attersee to create more than 45 of his approximately 50 known landscapes, which continue to delight art enthusiasts from all over the world.
